Commercial/Consumer Real Estate Lending Assistant
Job Summary:
The position of Lending Assistant is primarily responsible for developing positive working relationships and facilitating and processing loan requests for potential and existing borrowers of the bank. The Lending Assistant should have previous loan operations experience and possess good working knowledge of all lending regulations, as well as the ability to meet all the below listed Primary Job Functions and Job Requirements. In summary, this role specifically performs the collection, preparation, processing, completion of loan requests and packages for consumer and business loans, as well as support to lending staff on SBA loans. This position also includes the task of tracking new and pending loan production, reporting the status of pending loans in process, and the monitoring of current loan file documentation, and will include monthly reporting to management (or as otherwise specified), as well as ongoing communication with loan customers in maintaining a current credit and collateral file. Most of the interaction with visitors, customers, staff, and vendors will be “face to face”. This role involves sharing the responsibility of providing lobby staff coverage within the branch, which includes: greeting and assisting lobby visitors, providing lobby staff presence and support in performing lobby duties, answering the phones, and assisting with customers financial needs, as well as other duties as assigned by bank management.
Primary Job Functions:
- Serve as primary contact in processing loan applications received for new and existing loans, preparing and providing all applicable loan application documents for the review of the assigned loan officers. Communicate with applicant on the status and decision on their submitted loan application.
- Communicate and coordinate with the lending staff on all approved loan applications, preparation of applicable checklists of required items, prepare “CFR” (loan write-up), prepare all applicable loan documents required as part of the closing of the loan, and facilitate and coordinate collection of all required documentation to provide a complete loan file for disbursement and closing.
- Review closed loan files for accuracy and verify all applicable documents are in the closing file to allow loan disbursement. Once all is verified, process the disbursement of the loan package.
- Preparation of complete loan packages for assigned lending staff members for submission to the bank’s loan committee.
- Coordinate with bank’s internal loan operations on the status of new and existing loan requests, including preparing and providing loan documentation for pending loans and existing loans.
- Effectively manage customer contact (visits, emails, and phone calls) for loan requests and other financial matters, and relay and coordinate with lender and other applicable bank staff members in completing requests.
- Maintain current loan files, including the collection and reporting of documents required in borrower’s credit and collateral files, for assigned lenders/borrowers.
- Process loan payments received at the branch, as well as draw requests and extensions on existing loans for those loans assigned to your assigned lenders.
- Prepare new loan application packets so they are readily available for loan applicants.
- Greet all lobby visitors pleasantly and assist them with their financial needs by either redirecting them to the applicable staff member or personally processing their requests.
- Answer the phone and process the caller’s request accordingly.
- Develop positive working relationships with customers and all personnel, foster a “team” attitude, and support others as requested.
- Provide staff support for lobby services; train with Branch Manager on all lobby service duties, to include new deposit account processing, issuance of debit cards, and teller support.
- Ability to provide support to staff and perform other related duties as assigned by the assigned lenders at branch, your Branch Manager, AVP of Loan Ops, or senior/executive management at the corporate location.
- Correctness in performing each task is required, as well as displaying a positive attitude in performing all assigned tasks.
Job Requirements:
- Knowledge and proficiency with the following: pre-closing and closing loan documentation, bank compliance documentation, and credit/collateral documentation for loan files.
- Good understanding of loan operations, including those tasks performed at the corporate location in bank’s internal (back-office) loan operations.
- Familiarity with financial institution duties and requirements.
- Proficiency in typing with accuracy, possessing good grammar/writing skills, and familiarity with general office practices.
- Must be capable of effectively performing: detail-oriented tasks, ability to multi-task and prioritize assigned duties, good time management skills, ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
- Must understand and apply discretion and good judgment in performing all duties.
- Computer experience required, at a minimum, with: Microsoft Word and Excel, Microsoft Outlook/Windows, and the internet.
- Good verbal communications skills (with proficiency in the English language).
- Positive attitude and desire to work in “team” environment.
- Must be US Citizen authorized to work in the United States.
- Must possess reliable transportation to and from work per your work schedule.
- Must be physically capable to work in a fast paced “front-line” environment that will include face-to-face interaction with the public.
- Ability to function in a routine Monday through Friday work schedule to allow at least 40 hours per week as your work schedule.
- Adherence to all bank policies and banking regulations.
- Flexibility to work at another branch location for staff support needs, if requested by management.
- Flexibility and openness to meeting customers on-site or other business development opportunities.
- Must provide exemplary customer service in person and over the phone.

Job Hours:
The position of Lending Assistant is a full-time position, requiring a 40-hour work week Monday thru Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm.
