CALLING ALL COLLEGE-BOUND FRESHMEN
House of Shine, with more than 30 years of collegiate expertise, is hosting Shine University -- specifically designed for high school graduates headed to college in the Fall of 2018. This half-day conference will include sessions that lay the groundwork for everything students need to take with them to college – the things they won’t find included in a college’s packing guidelines.
House of Shine, with more than 30 years of collegiate expertise, is hosting Shine University -- specifically designed for high school graduates headed to college in the Fall of 2018. This half-day conference will include sessions that lay the groundwork for everything students need to take with them to college – the things they won’t find included in a college’s packing guidelines.
Included in our SHINE-U packing list is:
- The most important tool in a student’s tool belt – their SHINE.
- Insider tips on maximizing the college student experience including important time management techniques.
- Top college campus safety tips.
- Advice from current students and campus administrators on what to expect during the first one hundred days on campus.
PRE-CONFERENCE
A special pre-conference workshop is also available for students to discover their top 5 strengths using the StrengthsFinder instrument. This pre-conference session will allow students to gain insight into their specific combination of strengths and learn strategies for using these strengths when they make their way to campus in the Fall. Lunch will be provided in between the end of the pre-conference workshop and the beginning of the afternoon conference sessions for those attending both.
COST:
Pre-Conference + Main Conference = $99
Main Conference only = $79
House of Shine is a 501(c)3 non-profit whose mission is to ignite power within and ultimately change the world for better by introducing children and women to their shine. Founder, Claudia Beeny, is an experienced educator and holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Higher Education/Higher Education Administration, and a Master of Education in College Student Counseling and Personnel Services, from The University of Georgia. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in History from The University of Arizona.
HOS develops curricula, providing education, teaching and imparting life skills development and application for personal growth and career path decision making. It helps students, define early in their lives, their strengths and interests so they can prepare sooner for a successful career path that they will enjoy.
