Juan Bogan Memorial Golf Tournament
Juan Bogan Memorial Golf Tournament, Benefiting Charissa Martin & Kids Matter International
Since 1994, a group of 30 friends have organized a golf tournament for some friendly competition and for the love of the game. In 2009, after the sudden death of Juan Bogan, a Grapevine City Employee who passed at the age of 29, this golfing tradition became a means to help others. Now this group of friends gather together to help raise money for a local government employee or their family which may be struggling to pay their bills due to high medical costs or the death of a loved one. The Juan Bogan Golf Tournament was born and has since teamed up with Kids Matter International and Boston’s Gourmet Pizza in order to help make the event a success. 100% of all proceeds go directly to charity.
This year’s beneficiary of the tournament is Charissa Martin who has been struggling with a brain tumor for over three years. Charissa was a City of Grapevine employee who had worked at the Community Activity Center since 2006. Unfortunately, she passed away on January 26th, leaving twin fifth grade boys and a High School girl motherless. Proceeds will now go to aid in the children’s adjustment to life without her.
