Richey Thompson, P.E., joined The T in June 2015 as the TEX Rail Chief Engineer, and is currently overseeing the final design and construction of the TEX Rail Project. Unlikely Heroes is a non-profit organization that rescues and restores child victims of sex slavery around the world. Over the past few years, we've had the privilege to build and operate four restoration homes in three nations: the Philippines, Thailand and Mexico. We currently have 60 children within our homes and are continuing to provide quality, restorative care to every single one of them.
Now, we are extending our reach to the children here in the United States. We are excited to announce that Unlikely Heroes will be opening our first Restoration Home in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex area for child victims.
Unlikely Heroes has a long-standing reputation of hosting events that are enjoyed by everyone who attends. Our benefit galas have attracted the attention and support of Hollywood celebrities who are passionate about universal human rights and ending sexual slavery, including guests such as Selena Gomez, Nikki Reed, Ian Somerhalder, and Babyface. This event will be attended by Jake Pavelka from The Bachelor, Marty Turco of the Dallas Stars, Damien Lawson from The Voice, and supported by the Dallas Cowboys.
In order to build this home by December 2015, we will be raising funds and holding a fundraiser. At Unlikely Heroes, we love to celebrate life. Participation in the class is limited to 25 individuals. Leadership Grapevine participants are selected through an application and selection process, with the purpose of this process to assure a mix of people from diverse backgrounds and experiences that represent a cross section of the city.
