JPS - Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow
Sponsor: Bank of the West
Caterer: Scratch Kitchen
About the Speaker:
The JPS Health Network is Tarrant County’s $800 million public-supported healthcare system, which experienced more than 1.1 million patient encounters in 2013.
Appointed CEO in 2009, Earley has guided JPS and its team of more than 6,000 employees, physicians and contractors through significant changes to further their mission of transforming healthcare delivery for the communities they serve. Under Earley’s leadership, JPS received Level 1 Trauma Center status, created an open heart surgery program, established a certified stroke center and expanded the network’s school-based health centers to 19 campuses. Home to nine medical residency programs, JPS has also added emergency medicine.
In 2013, JPS partnered with the Fort Worth Foundation to develop a central resource facility for the homeless that will include a community clinic to lessen the inappropriate use of the emergency room by patients whose chronic diseases can be managed in an outpatient setting. The new center is scheduled to open in late 2014.
Earley’s experience prior to joining JPS includes 10 years of elected service in the Texas House of Representatives. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas and holds a master’s in health care administration from the University of Texas at Arlington’s Fort Worth center. Earley is chairman of the Texas Coalition of Transferring Hospitals and is the immediate past chairman of Teaching Hospitals of Texas. He serves on the boards of the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council and the Healthy Tarrant County Collaboration. He is the incoming chairman of LEAD (Leaders and Executives Advocating Diversity).
Earley enjoys biking, playing tennis and raising Clydesdales. He and his veterinarian wife, Tricia, have one daughter, Bryce, 13.
